I am based in Bavaria, Germany, and spend a lot of my time outdoors, chasing with my camera those rare and elusive, magical moments when Nature puts on her finest displays. My favorite hunting grounds are the Dolomites, Franconia, the Bavarian Forest and the Alps.
How it all started
I started with photography in 2007 and this fascinating hobby quickly turned into something serious for me. Being able to capture what I have seen at wonderful places and to freeze special moments was an amazing experience. But in my early years I was never happy with the results. There was nothing wrong with the pictures, technically, but they didn’t match with the images in my head. Vast, immense landscapes looked small and boring, and so a long period of experimenting, studying and learning begun, and is still ongoing.
I am certainly not a stock photographer nor would I qualify to make it on the cover of National Geographic, but that is not my intention. I want to convey the vision and the feeling that I had, and maybe I also want to document the few magical places left that we haven’t maltreated yet in favor of lucrative nature entertainment.
Image processing has become some sort of art form for me, an extension of my soul. Similar to notes that pop up in the head of a composer, details are emerging in my mind like on a head-up display, right in front of me.
Why do I write in English?
Ok, first of all, bare with me, for my spelling mistakes and occasionally goofy syntax. (Bizarrely I find it easier to write in another language than my own) I want to reach a wider audience and with more than 58000 followers on various social media channels from all over the world, who hopefully like to visit this space too, the decision was clear.
It was hard but also fun
So, after hundreds of hours of learning how to design a website, tweaking, investigating, tagging and what not, I’m happy to present you a collection of my images and thoughts. I hope you enjoy browsing through them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
